The barriers identified from the study were 1) Inconsistencies in decision-making 2) Centralised/Decentralised decision-making 3) lack of planning, 4) lack of budgetary allocations 5) Collusion of stakeholders 6) Difficulty in imposing change 7) Difficulty in dealing with government agencies and 8) Inadequate training of procurement professionals and suppliers. The qualitative data was analysed using Thematic Template Analysis where the audio recordings from the interviews were transcribed into written texts and coded under identified themes. The study utilized primary data that was obtained using semi-structured interview of 6 procurement experts at KNUST.
